S.E.: MPS buys Mediobanca?

This morning, news broke that the historic Italian bank MPS, which was in serious trouble until just a few years ago, plans to acquire **Mediobanca **through a Public Exchange Offer (**OPS **in italian).

I bought a small amount; some friends who are more experienced than me are skeptical, but for now, the shares are rising a bit. What will happen in the coming days or weeks?
